Mount Paul United Church
Covid 19 Safety Plan
Mount Paul United Church encourages their employees to work from home in order to minimize the risk of spreading Covid 19 among the employees, and any visiting member of the public or congregation. The office will be closed to the public. The outside door will be kept locked, and access will only be granted to those with a key or with prior knowledge of the person using the office.
The secretary will need to come into the office periodically to perform necessary duties that can only be done at the office. The Minister will work from the office as needed, but will mostly be working alone. If staff members are in the same room as each other or with members of the public or congregation both the staff member and the visiting person will be required to wear masks. Signs will be posted at the entrance to the office to indicate this.
Everyone entering the office will be required to sign in with a name and phone number and time of day visiting the office for contact tracing. The pen used for signing in will be disinfected after each use. No one will be permitted to step behind the Secretary’s desk while there is another person at the desk. This will be enforced by the person sitting behind the desk.
Staff will endeavour to keep at least 2 metres between themselves and any other person in the office at all times. There will be a limit of 2 visitors in the office while an employee is present. Signs will be posted at entrances to the office to indicate the physical distancing and maximum number of people allowed. Once finished work, the secretary will wipe down any surface touched with a disinfecting wipe. This will also apply to the volunteer treasurer or anyone else using the office facilities, as the computer is needed by the treasurer to input expenses and generate reports.
The office will be cleaned weekly by a janitor service. This is usually done on Sunday afternoon. Wiping down of surfaces with a disinfectant wipe before & after work will be the responsibility of the employee. Anyone who uses the washroom will disinfect any surfaces touched including toilet handle, faucets, door handles etc.
Worship services are suspended until gathering in person is again recommended by the Pacific Mountain Region. Worship will continue on line until meeting in person is deemed to be safe by the Management Team. The Minister & the Musician will meet weekly to record the music for the worship service. Attendance at these recording sessions will be limited to the Minister, Musician and one or two additional people, to a maximum of 4 persons.
Wedding & Funerals may be held in the multipurpose room, providing consent is obtained from ICS. There will be a maximum of 20 guests allowed, plus the minister, musician and a host for the event. The host will be required to keep the attendance below the maximum guests allowed, and to keep a list and phone numbers of attendees for contact tracing . These services will be kept to a minimum. Every participant in the service will be required to wear a mask, no exceptions. Physical distancing of 2 metres between family pods will be enforced. No physical touching will be allowed outside of the family pod. There will be no singing allowed at these services. Recorded music may be played.
Surfaces will be wiped down with disinfectant prior to and after the event, including chairs, piano, microphones, music stands etc. Washrooms will be disinfected before and after the event. Before leaving the host, musician and the minister will wash their hands in the churches washroom.
