I have so appreciated being able to check in with so many of you by phone, e-mail, and other means. Life as we know it has certainly taken us down a new road has it not?
It appears there will be a few more bends in the road yet. Meantime, please know that even though Margaret Pel, Nazly Bostandoust, and I have all entered into the realm of working from a distance, all three us are well and thanks to technology, able to communicate quickly and efficiently even with physical distancing at the top of our minds.
Tomorrow, Margaret has advised me she will be sending out her usual Friday Announcements information pertinent to your life as a community. Along with that she is also sending a pastoral letter and sermon from the Rev. Juanita Austin who was scheduled to lead worship with you on March 29th.
As you may know, Juanita and I worked diligently together to offer you something meaningful for the season of Lent this year. I am so pleased she would continue to offer her prayers and thoughts for you from the perspective of the biblical texts for the last Sunday in Lent for 2020.
As to my own role as your current spiritual leader, I have been on many conference calls this last week with those who are guiding ministers and leaders during this tumultuous times. I have also had the good fortune to continue to connect with the members of Mt. Paul’s management team and also the pastoral care team who are working so diligently on your behalf.
One thing I am aware of this that the longing to be together as a worshipping community and the need to not do that in person at the moment is causing considerable distress to many of you. With that in mind, this coming Sunday, March 29th, Nazly and I will be offering a time of worship based on the Psalms and we invite you to join us with us. It will be at 10am as per usual. It would be helpful to me to have a sense of who amongst you might be interested in gathering in this way.
If you are able to use a phone that has internet access and or a computer, you will be able to join us, so please do let me know if this appeals. Once we know who is interested in this way of gathering, I will send out instructions and we can even have a little dress rehearsal in advance.
In the meanwhile, may God bless, the Spirit enliven, and the living, loving Christ be with you all.
